Arriving by plane

The nearest international airport to Erlangen is Nuremberg Airport (20km) being connected by highway, bus, train and subway. If you are arriving through this airport, there are several possibilities of transferring to Erlangen:

  • Several taxi services operate on this route (20 min.), and their price is around 30 €.
  • Regular bus transfer from Nuremberg Airport city bus 33  to “Nürnberg Am Wegfeld” (10 min.) or city bus 32 to “Nürnberg Thon” (12 min.), then change to city bus 30 in the direction “Erlangen Hugenottenplatz” (center of Erlangen, 30 min.) further information
  • Subway U2 from Nuremberg Airport to “Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof” (Nuremberg central railway station, 13 min.), then change to train S1 or R2 to “Erlangen Hauptbahnhof” (Erlangen central railway station, 25 min.)  further information
  • Several Rent a car agencies are operating at the airport.

Arriving by train

Erlangen is connected with Berlin and Munich by Intercity railway. But all trains arriving at Nuremberg central railway station are possible too (connection to Erlangen central station mentioned above). For detailed informations and train schedules visit www.bahn.de.


Arriving by car

Erlangen can be reached on the highway A3 and A73, and the easiest way to make your travel plan by car is to visit a route planner and get all the updated information that might concern you.


Around the city

Once you have arrived to Erlangen, getting around the city is easy.
Most hotels in Erlangen are in walking distance of central station and downtown.
City busses 30, 287 and 293 stop at the South Campus of the University of Erlangen. Duration is about 15 minutes from central station. Timetables
