Weimar was the home for Goethe, Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Nietzsche, Herder, Wieland, Cranach, van de Velde, Gropius – to name but a few.
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: The history of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar goes back to the Bauhaus movement of the 1930s.
Today the university still adheres to the basic princi-ples of the State Bauhaus, founded by Walter Gropius in 1919.
